Official description of the game
Unlike most games of a similar theme, Saboteur will offer players a completely open world (GTA style). The gameplay will combine elements of first-person shooter and stealth.
As a member of the French organization French La Resistance, you will have to liberate various territories under Nazi control.
Features:
• Open Paris: shoot, climb, and sneak through dark alleys, rooftops, and houses on the city's seedy streets.
• The Art of Sabotage: Try yourself in the role of a real saboteur, remaining unnoticed. Kill enemies unnoticed by distraction or sneaking up. You are a master of weapons, driving, and also sabotage.
• Thirst for Fight: Fast-paced action with a gripping storyline and innovative visual style, as well as the will to win. Watch as the city changes around you from the war and is also liberated from the Nazis. Only you can restore the hope and greatness of Paris.
Review: Playability
If anyone expected the supernatural and hyper-realistic from this game, then we can disappoint you - this is not a new NASA shuttle and you will not meet Martians in the near future. In our opinion, this is a strong publishing project (the latest from Pandemic Studios, may it rest in peace), which deserves our respect and some sympathy.
The game by its nature belongs to typical GTA gameplay: you move freely around the city, complete missions, or get rowdy for your own pleasure. At some point in the gaming industry, they decided to transfer the theme of World War II to a living city, and none other than Paris itself. And even if you are not a fan of games of this genre, it will be simply interesting to wander around the French capital and get acquainted with its sights and the life of the townspeople in the 40s (the time of occupation by Nazi Germany).
Overall the project is quite interesting and extraordinary. Another feature of this project is its visualization in black and white with the addition of some colors. On the one hand, this is somewhat new and unusual for us, but on the other hand, it evokes a feeling of immersion in the history of that time, as when watching old black and white films.
In addition to the GTA component, the game borrowed something from other games such as Prototype and Assasin`s Creed. The constant game tension and skirmishes between opposing sides on the street are taken from Prototype, and climbing walls and moving along the roofs of buildings is taken from Assasin`s Creed.
In general, the number and quality of games with open living worlds is constantly increasing and we hope to further develop this trend.
Review: Game Graphics
In our in-game review of the game, we emphasized that the game has uncharacteristic black and white tones. The game engine is not very modern and does not look very high quality when viewed in color.
But this is if you look at the game in color. And as soon as you look at it in black and white, it immediately transforms, and gray tones make a more positive impression than color ones.
In general, the detail of the game is not bad, the city is reproduced simply wonderful. Weather effects are also performed at the lowest level. It’s a pity that there aren’t very many graphic settings in the game and the picture quality cannot be improved even through a graphics driver.
Review: Resource-intensive game
So, for complete immersion in the gameplay, you will need a Core 2 Duo 3.0 or Core 2 Quad 2,4 processor and 3 gigabytes of RAM. The game is well optimized for processors, and as the number of cores increases, the load is evenly distributed between them.
We tested video cards from the lower price range at a resolution of 1024x768, we tested video cards from the mid-price range at a resolution of 1280x1024, and video cards from the upper price range were tested at a resolution of 1680x1050.
Testing at maximum Low End quality settings at 1024x768 resolution
The lower range could not cope with this task in any way and the graphic settings for owners of these cards will need to be reduced.
Testing at maximum quality settings Midle End at 1280x1024 resolution
Here we see that less than half of the video cards are experiencing difficulties. Small, but they are there.
Testing at maximum High End quality settings at 1680x1050 resolution
Here you can see that all video cards coped with the gameplay. Radeon video cards look much better in the game than Nvidia. But in addition to all this, the game has its flaws: crashes and freezes are possible on various configurations, so some users will have to tie their belts tighter and wait for the release of a game patch that fixes these bugs.
Conclusion: The Saboteur turned out to be a pretty good game project. Those who expected a miracle with its appearance will be disappointed - it did not happen. Resource intensity GPU came out above average - 58%.
