Strange Brigade is a corporate action game from the famous studio Rebellion, which became famous primarily as the creator of the Sniper Elite series, which has proven itself well among the gaming community.

The game takes place in the not so distant past - in the 1930s. The whole plot takes place within the great British Empire, which at that moment owned colonies in the so-called “third world” countries.

GAME ENGINE

Strange Brigade was developed on the Asura game engine. Asura was developed by Rebellion Developments for use in their own games. The first game to use the engine was Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death, which was released on October 17, 2003 for personal computers and GameCube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox consoles.

After this, Rebellion switched to developing console exclusives, which were most often released on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. The company also developed console versions of third-party games. Since the release of Shellshock 2: Blood Trails in 2009, the company's target gaming platforms have been PC (Windows), PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The company's latest and most notable game in relation to the engine is the shooter Aliens versus Predator, released on February 16, 2010. Support for the DirectX 11 API was added to the version of the engine for this game; the game itself was actively advertised by AMD during an advertising campaign to promote the first video cards with Direct3D 11 support - Radeon HD5xxx (Cypress). Aliens versus Predator was one of the first five games in the world to support DirectX 11, which was actively promoted by AMD.

In early February 2011, Rebellion officially announced that Asura now fully supports the Next Generation Portable (NGP) console, which was announced on January 27 of that year. According to the report, porting the engine took Rebellion several months, and at the time of the news, the developers already had a playable technology demo for NGP. This techno-demo game in the genre of multiplayer third-person shooter was shown to potential licensees. Thus, from this moment on, Asura became available for licensing to third-party companies.

A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions of the Radeon R9 290 or GeForce GTX 970 level.

Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on the results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with different anti-aliasing settings. By default, the graph displays the most current solutions. Other video cards are added and removed from the schedule at the request of the reader.

It’s interesting that on Giraffes the FPS is higher under Vulcan, and on Radiks it’s higher under Direct.

I retested the GTX780 with new drivers and without recording with ShallowPlay. Direct X 12 Average FPS: 58.3 Minimum FPS: 42.4 Maximum FPS: 85.4 Volcano Average FPS: 59.8 Minimum FPS: 26.0 Maximum FPS: 252.7 In Vulcan, the average FPS has noticeably increased due to the new drivers, but the maximum and minimum in the built-in benchmark are still incorrect
