DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
В S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl The differences between the minimum and medium graphics settings are noticeable in several ways:
-
Texture Resolution: At minimum settings, textures have a lower resolution, resulting in less crisp and detailed object surfaces. At medium settings, textures become sharper, improving the overall perception of environmental detail.
-
Lighting quality: Minimum settings use simplified lighting models, which can result in less realistic shadows and lighting effects. Medium settings offer more complex lighting, creating deeper and more realistic shadows and improved light reflection effects.
-
Render distance: At minimum settings, objects at far distances may appear with less detail or be completely missing, which can reduce the realism of the environment. Medium settings increase the draw distance, allowing you to see more detailed objects at greater distances.
-
Particle effects: Minimum settings may limit or disable some effects such as smoke, dust or atmospheric phenomena, making the environment less saturated. At medium settings, these effects are present to a greater extent, adding dynamism and realism to the gameplay.
-
Model quality: At minimum settings, character and object models may be less polygonal, resulting in more angular shapes. Medium settings increase the polygon count, making models smoother and more realistic.
Thus, the transition from minimum to medium graphics settings in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl significantly improves the visual perception of the game, making it more immersive and realistic.
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
В S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology improves game performance by upscaling the image. There are several FSR modes, each of which balances image quality and performance:
-
FSR Native: In this mode, FSR is disabled and the game is rendered in native resolution without scaling. This provides the best image quality with maximum clarity and detail, but may require more system resources, which may reduce frame rates on less powerful devices.
-
FSR Quality: This mode renders the game at a slightly lower resolution than the original, then scales the image to the target resolution using FSR algorithms. Image quality remains high, with minimal loss of detail, while performance is improved compared to native rendering.
-
FSR Balanced: This mode renders the game at an even lower resolution than Quality mode, and then upscales it. This provides a noticeable performance boost, but may reduce image quality slightly, showing up as slight blurriness or loss of fine detail.
Thus, the choice between FSR Native, FSR Quality and FSR Balanced depends on the player's preferences and the capabilities of his system. FSR Quality offers the best balance between image quality and performance, while FSR Balanced is more focused on increasing the frame rate with some reduction in visual quality.
Our laptops were tested at different screen sizes 1280x720 и 1920x1080 with with low and medium, graphics parameters graphics quality settings by default in the game with and without upscaling and frame generation. The tests were conducted in maximum performance modes, as the game is quite heavy:
Turbo mode (ASUS ROG Ally 25W) (ASUS ROG Ally X 30 W) :
Turbo mode is designed for maximum performance, especially in graphically intensive games and applications. In this mode, the console runs at maximum power, delivering high frame rates and improved graphics quality.

CONCLUSION |
Based on tests and additional information on the differences in RAM capacity between the base ASUS model ROG Ally (16GB LPDDR5) and ASUS ROG Ally X (24GB LPDDR5X), we can draw conclusions not only about performance, but also about how this factor affects the gaming experience in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
ASUS Performance ROG Ally
The base version of the console shows limited results on all separate screen sizes and settings. Although 16 GB of RAM is theoretically enough for most games, STALKER 2 actively uses large amounts of memory to process textures, location data, and objects. This causes very long loading times and frequent crashes due to lack of memory, especially when switching between locations or during periods of high system load.
In terms of performance, the basic ASUS ROG Ally allows you to reach a minimum level of playability only at low settings and a resolution of 1280x720. In native mode, the game runs on the edge of acceptable FPS (23 on average), and using FSR Quality or FSR Balanced partially corrects the situation, raising performance to 28-33 FPS. However, even under these conditions, the console faces serious stability issues, which requires patience from players and constant monitoring of the game loading.
ASUS Performance ROG Ally X
ASUS ROG Ally X, thanks to its 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, is free from most of the problems associated with a lack of memory. This allows the console to not only load locations faster, but also provide more stable gameplay without frequent crashes. This is especially noticeable at medium and high graphics settings, where the additional memory is used to load high-resolution textures and more complex geometry.
In native mode, Ally X demonstrates better results compared to the base model. For example, at low settings at a resolution of 1280x720, the console produces a stable 25 FPS, which makes the game acceptable without using scaling technologies. Using FSR Quality increases performance to 33 FPS, and FSR Balanced provides a comfortable 35 FPS. When using Frame Generation, the console reaches 57-64 FPS, which ensures smooth gaming even at medium graphics settings.
On permission 1920x1080 Ally X also shows a significant advantage. In native mode, it produces 19-25 FPS, which is the minimum acceptable level for low settings. Using FSR Quality and FSR Balanced increases performance to 25-27 FPS, providing comfortable gameplay, especially in combination with Frame Generation, which increases FPS to 43-45.
The influence of RAM capacity
The difference in RAM between the models is a key factor in determining the gaming experience. The base model with 16 GB runs out of memory when processing large data, resulting in long loading times and crashes. For STALKER 2, where the game heavily uses memory for high-resolution textures, geometry, and location data, this becomes a critical limitation.
ASUS ROG Ally X, with 24 GB of memory, is free of these problems. The console processes more data at once, which allows it to load locations faster and avoid crashes. This makes it the best choice for playing STALKER 2.
Recommendations for players
If you are an ASUS owner ROG Ally, minimum graphics settings and a resolution of 1280x720 are the only option for acceptable gameplay. However, it is necessary to take into account long loading times and possible crashes due to lack of memory. For a more comfortable experience, players should carefully monitor the game loading, especially in complex locations.
For ASUS users ROG Ally X game becomes much more accessible. The console allows you to play on medium settings at a resolution 1920x1080, using FSR Quality or FSR Balanced technologies. Frame Generation ensures smoothness even under higher loads, and additional memory ensures stable gaming without crashes.
Final verdict
ASUS ROG Ally Suitable for playing STALKER 2 only on low settings and requires patience from the owner due to memory limitations. ASUS ROG Ally X, with its 24 GB of RAM and improved performance, provides a stable and comfortable gaming experience, even at medium graphics settings. If you plan to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Exclusion Zone, Ally X will be a more suitable choice.
