DEVELOPMENT HISTORY

Silent Hill 2 (2024) is a remake of the cult game Silent Hill 2, first released in 2001 by Konami. The original won the hearts of millions of players around the world thanks to its deep psychological plot, unique atmosphere and elaborate horror component. A remake was announced for 2022 as part of the franchise's revival Silent Hill, and its development was entrusted to a Polish studio Bloober Team, known for her previous horror works such as The Medium и Layers of Fear. The decision to entrust the development of the remake to an independent studio aroused interest among fans of the series, as many expected that Konami would once again be closely involved in the project. However, the choice in favor of Bloober Team was explained by their experience working with psychological horror and understanding the subtleties of the atmosphere.

GAME ENGINE

The game engine used in the remake Silent Hill 2 (2024), was one of the key reasons for the significant improvements in graphics and gameplay. The game is based on Unreal Engine 5, which allowed the developers to significantly improve not only the visual effects, but also the physics, artificial intelligence and the system of interaction with the environment. The artificial intelligence (AI) has also been significantly improved. Enemies have become smarter and more aggressive, they can listen to the sounds made by James and react to his movements. Interaction with the environment has also become more intuitive thanks to the capabilities of the engine.
