sw 1920 sys

Shadow Warrior is a re-release of the 1997 game of the same name. You will once again find yourself in the role of Lo Wang, who worked for the powerful Japanese corporation Zilla until he learned that its leader was planning to take over the world.

Now the hero will have to fight with the killers sent after him from his previous employer.

THE GRAFICAL PART

This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.

Supported OS and graphics API

Shadow Warrior is supported by major Windows operating systems, which include Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Other operating systems are not currently supported by the developers.

sw 1920 steam

The priority and main graphics API for the multiplayer game Shadow Warrior is DirectX 9. The game is distributed through the digital game sales service Steam.

Game engine

The Shadow Warrior video game is based on its own game engine, which was implemented by Flying Wild Hog for use in its own products.

Devolver Digital

Unfortunately, we did not find more detailed information about the game engine, except for the data listed above...

Advanced Game Settings

Shadow Warrior has just a huge number of game settings. We have both basic and advanced graphic settings at our disposal. For all modes, low, medium, high and ultra-high quality levels are available.

Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum, medium, and maximum graphics quality settings.

Low quality settings
sw 2013 09 28 11 57 14 238 sw 2013 09 28 12 04 32 423
Medium quality settings

sw 2013 09 28 11 57 32 283 sw 2013 09 28 12 04 49 725
 High quality settings

sw 2013 09 28 11 57 51 765 sw 2013 09 28 12 05 13 527

Changing the graphics quality significantly affects the resulting image. And, of course, the most attractive thing is the maximum level of graphics quality.

General visual design and game physics

Shadow Warrior is by definition a next-gen game, currently only released on PC, with plans to release on PS4 in the future. Modern game consoles have remained out of work, either because of the technical side of the game, or because the developers are too lazy to transfer Shadow Warrior to a complex architecture.

sw 2013 09 27 08 48 41 439

The game is very beautiful and detailed, but still, it’s hard to call it NextGen. First of all, this is due to the fact that some games still look better than Shadow Warrior in some aspects, and secondly, the game only supports DirectX 9 capabilities, which affects not only the quality of the game, but also the performance.

Next, we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU test

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as performance indicators. Below is a video of the test segment:

Our video cards were tested at separate screen sizes of 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by Shadow Warrior. Tests were carried out with FSAA anti-aliasing enabled and disabled. Multi-chip configurations from NVIDIA and AMD did not show any increase in performance. AMD CrossFireX is extremely unstable and even goes into a huge minus...

VRAM test

memory GPU

Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with different anti-aliasing settings.

Testing at maximum memory GPU quality settings

 sw vram

The recommended amount of video memory usage for this game is about 1.2 GB for basic graphics quality settings. For ultra resolution you need at least 1536 MB of video memory.

Micro-Stuttering Test

ms

Introducing our testing of FPS output latency on a Micro-Stuttering monitor. The indicator was based on the results on video cards from AMD ARES II and NVIDIA GTX 780 at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum image quality settings.

Testing at maximum quality settings Micro-Stuttering GPU

 sw ms

Micro-Stuttering latency indicators are at a more or less acceptable level. The exception was AMD CrossFireX, which, as we said earlier, has problems with optimization for this game.

CPU test

sw 2013 09 28 11 52 20 130

We tested processor dependence on 17 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum graphics quality settings.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080

 sw proz

Processor performance in Shadow Warrior is limited to the most powerful single-chip solution, GEFORCE GTX TITAN. In most cases, game performance is limited by the video card.

Loading of processor coresat maximum quality settings 1920x1080 Intel%

sw intel

Loading of processor cores at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 AMD%

 sw amd

Basically the game uses two processor cores. As the number of cores increases, one core remains loaded, and the remaining load is evenly distributed among the remaining cores.

RAM test

3930k

Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows task manager. The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 3970X@4.9 GHz with 16GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory.

Testing at various quality settings

 sw ram

As we can see, with various basic quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in Shadow Warrior is at the level of 800 megabytes. Thus, for a comfortable game you need to have at least 2 GB of RAM installed in your PC.

Well, what if you saw something there? This means that you are most likely sitting tightly in the grid, perhaps on the code. From there guys usually see the invisible. It’s just that my friend is obsessed with it, he sees the difference even between 166-170 frames. for him it’s 1 kilo right away. I personally don’t see a single place in these videos where one could find fault with something. vision 1, never complained. The video was recorded one at 30 frames, the other at 60. That’s the whole difference between them. let's do it differently then. Believe it or not, it's up to you. I will not gain or lose from this. this is the place from the second video: http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-SA-tKySQzDg/UllM4rtlf4I/AAAAAAAAAmo/K_qXTu5dYeQ/w1202-h669-no/Shadow+Warrior.PNG[/ Url]

everything is fine with video playback, don’t worry)) I just see microfreezes perfectly. Maybe it’s true that there are friezes due to the fact that you are recording, but, for example, with the test segment of Battles4 everything was tip-top, everything was super smooth in the second video it’s a little better, apparently due to the lack of vegetation nearby.

then here's another one http://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B35ErqE-QtMFZ19RcG9OVnJtOWs&;export=download what if this also freezes?! It means there is something wrong with your computer.

mfuZWell, probably some people also have problems with video playback. No one talked about 60 frames. There is absolutely nothing stopping you from playing. and there are both 60 and 75 present sometimes often. + I’m also recording.

This comment was made by the moderator on the site

By the way, vector, 60 frames and you don’t have anything close to smoothness. friezes are visible Although the graphics are stunning in some places, I think that the 60 should produce 7970 frames
