Shadow of the Tomb Raider has finally received a new patch that adds ray tracing support to the game on RTX series video cards (will also be available on GTX 1XXX family in the near future). As with Metro: Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider supports both tracing and DLSS anti-aliasing.

For RTX to work, you must update to Windows 10 version 1809 and install GeForce 419.35 (WHQL) drivers.

COMPARING DIFFERENT SETTINGS

Real-time ray tracing is used in the game to create realistic shadows. Along with the latest update, Shadow of The Tomb Raider also introduced DLSS intelligent anti-aliasing, which uses artificial intelligence algorithms to improve game performance while maintaining the desired picture quality. NVIDIA recommends using both technologies together. Watch the video:

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the Action! program. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment:

It is also worth noting that for the 2080/Ti the resolution of 1920x1080 is not available when DLSS is activated, only 1920x1200, so in the graphics it is worth considering that for these video cards at 1920x1080 a resolution of 1920x1200 is implied.

DirectX 12+DLSS

When activated DLSS in 4k you can already play at an average 60 FPS with almost GeForce RTX 2070 .

RTX

RџSЂRё ultra RTX settings  stable 60 frames at 1920x1080 will provide GEFORCE RTX 2060, and at 2560x1400 - GeForce RTX 2080 .

RTX+DLSS

Activation DLSS when turned on RTX most effective in 4K, where performance is almost comparable to this mode without RTX .

VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION

Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on the results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with different anti-aliasing settings. By default, the graph displays the most current solutions. Other video cards are added and removed from the schedule at the request of the reader.

Testing was carried out at a resolution of 1920x1080. In the processor test, you can remove or add any processor positions. You can also select any tested video card from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given processor tests(by default, the most productive solution from NVIDIA is selected).

An acceptable figure of at least 25 frames was shown by the FX 4300 or Core i 3 2100 processors, and an average FPS of at least 60 frames can be achieved by solutions of the level  Ryzen 5 2400 or Core i 3 8100.

RTX

An acceptable figure of at least 25 frames was shown by the FX 6300 or Core i 3 4330 processors, and an average FPS of at least 60 frames can be achieved by solutions of the level  Ryzen 5 1600X or Core i 7 7700.

The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 9 9900K with 32 GB DDR4 3200 MGz pre-installed memory. All used RAM was taken as an indicator. <br />На сайте нвидии написано что такое HTFS и чем он отличается от обычного рейтрейсинга. Но я всю ночь не спал и голова не варит, так что ничего не понял (stena) , но если интересно - ознакомся). Честно, я не знаю почему от HTFS отказались и почему его почти нигде нет. <br />А с VXAO и VXGI all проще. Эти методы дают довольно заметные артефакты на мелких обьектах (без коих уже давно не обходится в играх), а если настраивать all так, что бы их небыло, разница в производительости уже не такая существенная (по ставнению с рейтрейсингом) но при этом это мение гибкий и более геморный инструмент для разработчиков.
