Official description of the game
Sci-fi setting. The plot of the game "Forerunner" is based on the theories of modern scientists and science fiction writers, who believe that many civilizations have mastered intergalactic flights long before mankind launched its first rockets into space.
The game begins with the main character, a young pilot of the Amarnov race, returning home to the planet Goldin after graduating from the academy. There he learns that recently a series of mysterious and terrible events have occurred in the galaxy. One of these disasters greatly affected the Amarn civilization and completely turned his own life upside down.
He will have to work hard to identify the root cause of all disasters and solve the problems that have arisen. The game successfully combines elements of various genres: RPG, action, space simulator.
Features:
• Unique gameplay: combines genres such as RPG/FPS/space
• A real opportunity to visit different planets
• More than 250 exciting quests and tasks
• Partially organic weapons with ammo needing food
• Controlled spaceships and other types of transport
• A huge number of different enemies
• Ability to trade
• Interact with hundreds of NPCs from different enemy races
• Weather effects, day and night cycles, atmospheric phenomena
Review: Playability
Domestic developers always approach games with their own, individual approach. This project is no exception. Trying to outdo their Western colleagues, they decided to combine several genres in one game: first-person shooter, simulator and RPG. We can safely say that in a sense they succeeded. All these components are really present in the game.
The plot is unclear at first and it seems that it does not have a clearly visible game line - go there and get this, here we have something going on, etc. and so on. Due to the constantly changing locations (in particular, we meant different planets with their flora and fauna), these ridiculous actions do not irritate, but arouse some kind of unbridled interest. And only after playing a little you begin to delve into the essence of the events taking place.
But while trying to invent the elephant, the developers also overlooked some game flaws. So in very Precursor there are a lot of repeating character models - it feels like the developers were lazy or cheated. The enemy AI is very primitive and only causes regret. And most importantly, the controls are not very polished - it feels like you are not controlling a game character, but some kind of hippopotamus in a swamp.
Review: Game Graphics
The graphics in Forerunner are somewhat unusual. The special effects are performed at the proper level and do not cause any complaints. The character models are slightly prosaic and evoke an association with unfinished game graphics.
The rest of the models: vegetation, buildings, landscape are quite real and allow you to fully see the beauty of the surrounding worlds. But their arrangement is a little cluttered and slightly annoying.
I was very pleased with the weather effects and the change of day and night. These components are executed very beautifully and do not allow you to doubt for a moment the quality of their implementation.
Review: Resource-intensive game
For a comfortable game, you should have a dual-core Core 2 Duo 2,66 GHz processor and 2.5 gigabytes of RAM.
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by the Fraps program in the most resource-intensive part of the game.
We tested the lower price segment video cards at a resolution of 1024x768, we tested the mid-price range video cards at a resolution of 1280x1024, and we tested the upper price range video cards at a resolution of 1680x1050.
Testing at maximum Low End quality settings at 1024x768 resolution
The lower sector could not cope with the game and once again the owners of these video cards will have to sacrifice quality for the sake of increased performance.
Testing at maximum quality settings Midle End at 1280x1024 resolution
Here we see that half of the currently popular cards have failed, and the other is very close to a fiasco...
Testing at maximum High End quality settings at 1680x1050 resolution
Two of our participants are close to subsidence. It can be seen that with increasing resolution they will no longer be able to provide an acceptable frame rate. It is worth noting that the game is predisposed to Radeon video cards. The advantage is small, but it is there.
Conclusion: The project is quite extraordinary. But if we consider that the Forerunners were made by our compatriots, then we should definitely support them. We should not forget one more thing - the game has immodest graphic appetites, resource intensity GPU is 64%.
