Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and serves as a link to the events of previous installments in the series. The game takes place a year after the events of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. You will once again get used to the role of the legendary Snake, also known under the pseudonym Big Boss. Objective: infiltrate the Omega base, where Chico and Paz are being held captive. The hostages possess important information regarding Snake himself and his private military organization.

The legendary agent Snake and his associate Kaz Miller must prevent the publication of this information at all costs. The release of prisoners in Ground Zeroes will lead to events that will begin the story of The Phantom Pain...

This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes is supported by the major Windows operating systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Other operating systems are not currently supported by the developers and will not receive support.

Game engine 

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes uses the Fox Engine at its core. Fox Engine is a cross-platform game engine built by Kojima Productions for use in its future projects. It is believed that this engine is intended for the next generation of gaming consoles. The engine was announced by Konami on June 3, 2011. The creation of the engine began after the completion of work on Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with the goal of creating the best engine in the world.

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes has in its arsenal a sufficient supply of advanced graphic settings. There are four quality levels available for all types of settings: ultra, high, medium, low and minimum. The game does not provide any anti-aliasing mode in the options.

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes has finally reached PC audiences. The game received a wide arsenal of graphic settings, UltraHD resolution and noticeably improved graphics compared to current generation consoles.

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes was developed under the auspices of NVIDIA, however, apart from optimizing performance on GEFORCE video cards, the game did not receive any other improvements. But even despite this, the game looks quite high quality and the gameplay is quite enjoyable.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as performance indicators. Below is a video of the test segment:    

Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes. SLI is supported by the game, but AMD CrossFireX is not. The game has an internal FPS limit of 60 frames.

With these settings an acceptable FPS indicator was shown by video cards of the Radeon R7 260X or GeForce GTX 750 Ti level. The optimal solution would be video cards of the Radeon R9 270 level or GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

With these settings an acceptable FPS indicator was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 285 or GeForce GTX 660 level. The optimal solution would be video cards of the level Radeon HD 7970 or GeForce GTX 760.

With these settings an acceptable FPS indicator was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 290X or GeForce GTX 780 level. The optimal solution would be video cards of the level GeForce GTX 780 and higher.

Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with different anti-aliasing settings.

We tested processor dependence on 16 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum graphics quality settings without anti-aliasing.

The game evenly loads any number of processor cores provided to it. It is fully capable of loading up to 4 computational threads.

RAM test

The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 5960X@4.6 GHz with 16GB DDR4 2400 MGz pre-installed memory. All used RAM was taken as an indicator. The RAM test on the entire system was carried out on various test benches without launching third-party applications (browsers, etc.).

As we can see, with various quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes is at the level of 1 gigabyte.

On a 6GB system, Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes consumes about 2.4GB of RAM. In the presence of a system with 8 gigabytes, the RAM consumption of all RAM was 2.6 gigabytes. With a 16 GB system, the total memory consumption was almost 3.1 gigabytes. And with 32 gigabytes of RAM, the system consumes 4.4 gigabytes of RAM.

I completed this game on the 780Ti at maximum settings. No brakes, everything is smooth. I didn't even bother with reinstalling the drivers. It’s good when you have a reserve of power and don’t have to wait for updated firewood and a mountain of patches :) The graphon in the toy, by the way, is awesome!

for fun, fpsdroching is in fashion now, there was a time when a stalker for joy was driven to 6600gt with grief freezimi, minimum wages and 30 fps, and even today it is also unfashionable to lower the graphics settings by 1 step and get 60 fps, if fps is so important, the game is not about graphics at all I wasn’t surprised, the last Splinter is better graphically IMHO, despite the ancient anril.
