THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
SUPPORTED OS AND GRAPHICS API |
Far Cry New Dawn is supported Windows 7 / 8 and Windows 10.
Priority and main graphics API for Far Cry 5 is DirectX 11.
GAME ENGINE |
Far Cry New Dawn is based on the Dunia Engine 2 game engine. Dunia Engine is a game engine developed by Ubisoft Montreal for its internal projects and first used in a first-person shooter Far Cry 2. Dunia Engine is a proprietary multi-platform game engine that is used by Ubisoft Montreal only for its own internal projects and is not available for licensing by third parties. The engine supports DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1 and DirectX 11. The word "dunia" means "world", "earth", "life" in Urdu, Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi, Hindi, Malay, Indonesian and Turkic languages.
In July 2007, Ubisoft officially announced a computer game Far Cry 2 and stated that the game will be based on a new engine called "Dunia Engine". The game and engine developer was Ubisoft Montreal, and the publisher was Ubisoft. It was then stated that Far Cry 2 - PC exclusive. According to an official interview with Louis-Pierre Farand, chief producer Far Cry 2, the Dunia Engine used only 2-3 percent of the code of the CryEngine engine, developed by the German company Crytek, since the entire CryEngine code was completely rewritten. However, it is clear that CryEngine is the basis of the Dunia Engine.
On January 4, 2008, an official announcement was made that Far Cry 2 is also being developed for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles. October 15, 2008 game Far Cry 2 went into production, becoming the first game to use the Dunia Engine. Later for Far Cry 2, several patches were released that improved the game itself and the engine. Patch 5 was released on November 2008, 1.01, and patch 17 was released on December 2008, 1.02.
On December 1, 2009, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game launched worldwide, which is the second game to use the Dunia Engine. The game was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, Wii and DS consoles, as well as for PC. James Cameron's Avatar: The Game was the first game to support stereoscopic graphics. This second version of the engine is quite resource-intensive and requires relatively high computing performance for normal operation.
The second game on the Dunia Engine, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, supports stereoscopic display mode. In late July 2009, Luc Duchaine, the game's senior international manager, stated that in order to be able to use the stereoscopic display mode, an HDMI connection and a display that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate are required.
However, the official stereo FAQ says that stereoscopic mode requires a special display labeled “3D-enabled.” The game supports most stereoscopic output formats for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, including RealD, Sensio, side-by-side, line-interlaced and full checkerboard. A stereo mode is also available on the PC, and in addition to the above formats, NVIDIA 3D Vision and iZ3D are additionally supported.
At the end of November 2012 it was released Far Cry 3 on an updated engine - Dunia Engine 2. Dunia Engine 2 has the following features:
New water technology.
Realistic weather system.
New gaming AI (artificial intelligence).
New integrated animation system.
Realistic facial expressions.
Motion Capture technology.
Global Illumination, a more realistic simulation of light.
DirectX 11 support.
ADVANCED GAME SETTINGS |
Far Cry New Dawn has a sufficient set of graphics settings, similar to Far Cry 5.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum and maximum graphics quality settings.
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
The difference between the various settings is visible, but it is not very critical.
COMPARISON OF SMOOTHING MODES |
The most effective anti-aliasing mode in the game is TAA.
GENERAL VISUALS AND GAME PHYSICS |
Far Cry New Dawn is graphically completely identical to its predecessor Far Cry 5:
Next, we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.
