Dead Space 3 is a science fiction third-person shooter video game developed by Visceral Games. Third game in the series Dead Space from the planned trilogy. The game was released on February 5, 2013 in America, February 7, 2013 in Russia and February 8, 2013 in Europe.

According to the plot of the game, engineer Isaac Clarke goes to the snowy planet Tau Volantis to find his friend Ellie Langford, who, together with Isaac, survived the terrible events on the Titan station in Dead Space 2. On the way to the planet, a crash occurs, where Isaac again has to fight hordes of necromorphs and find a way to once and for all stop the epidemic caused by the Obelisks. This time, Isaac will be helped in his fight for survival by Sergeant John Carver, who suffers from the same form of madness that Isaac and Strauss suffered in Dead Space 2. In the third part, Isaac is opposed not only by necromorphs, but also by fanatical Unitologist soldiers.

THE GRAFICAL PART

Dead Space 3 is supported by major Windows operating systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Other operating systems are not currently supported by developers and are unlikely to receive support.

Game engine 

Visceral Engine is a game engine developed by Visceral Games for internal use. Visceral Games, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, has used the Visceral Engine in all of its games since 2005. "Visceral Engine" is best known for its use in games in the series Dead Space; it was also used in two games in the Godfather series.

As we can see, the difference in the picture between different graphics settings is quite significant. At low settings Dead Space 3 loses a lot of its appeal, but allows players with mediocre hardware to enjoy the gameplay.

General visual design and game physics

Dead Space 3 is a multi-platform project and the result of the game's appearance on PC is a consequence of the console porting. However, it is worth noting that the developers were able to make a good console port by making some changes to the graphics and improving the optimization of the game for PC.

The game is not anything outstanding in terms of graphics, but the picture is quite high quality, so fans of the series as a whole will not be disappointed. The only thing I wanted to see was less cramped locations, but again, it all came down to the performance of modern consoles.

GPU test

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by the program MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average FPS was taken as a performance indicator. Our video cards were tested at separate screen sizes of 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with high and maximum graphics quality settings allowed Dead Space 3. Multi-chip configurations from NVIDIA and AMD showed excellent scalability, which is very nice.

In this article, the test settings are not at maximum. The "highest" graphics preset was used in the graphics quality menu. If you go into your own visualization settings, you will see that the “highest” preset does not actually set all settings to maximum. To really get the maximum, you need to manually change several settings to the maximum (including setting high-quality SMAA anti-aliasing). This preset is called "special". I’ll add that as I continued playing, I saw a drop in FPS of up to 39 on my hardware (when, towards the end of the game, you need to kill a giant ice crab using two harpoons). Thus, even Radeon 4870/5770/6770/7750 will not be enough. I advise you to use a video card no weaker than RAdeon 4890/5830/6850/7770.
