Painkiller Returns: Reimagined Classic Coming This Year
On the Future Games Show: Spring Showcase 2024 studio Anshar Studios and 3D Realms announced reimagined version cult shooter Painkiller. The game will be released this year on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X and will receive cooperative mode.
Players will have to face it again fight demons in gothic locations. As one of the Champions, condemned for sins against Heaven, you are given a chance for redemption. By the will of the Creator, you must stop fallen angel Azazel and his army. They will stand in the way hordes of monsters and three mighty ones Nephilim, children of Azazel.
The developers promise dynamic fights, in which players will be able to jump, dash to dodge attacks and use a grappling hook. Among the weapons will appear classic painkiller guns, as well as new types of weapons.
One of the main innovations was tarot cards, which enhance the characters' abilities. In co-op, players will be able to combine these effects to create unique combat strategies. Will be available at launch four heroes: Ink, Void, Sol and Roch, each of which has unique characteristics: Energy, Health, Strength and Damage.
Painkiller promises to be the return of the legend, preserving the spirit of the original and adding modern mechanics. The release date has not yet been announced, but the game has already been announced for current generation consoles and PC.
