South of Midnight: Unique Aesthetics from Compulsion Games and Clyde Henry Productions

A new game south of midnight from Compulsion Games attracted attention thanks to its unique visual style, created in collaboration with the Canadian studio Clyde Henry Productions, known for her dark and surreal works in the genre stop motion animation.

According to the project's art director Whitney Clayton, the main goal was to create a "living" game, where every element looks natural and conveys a sense of organicity. The style of the game emphasizes the gloomy atmosphere of the American South, combining elements of dark fantasy with mystery and unique aesthetics.

To achieve this visual identity, the Compulsion Games team combined traditional stop-motion animation techniques with modern technology. This approach allowed the south of midnight visual depth and originality, which will become key elements of the game.

The project was presented at Xbox Game Showcase 2024, where viewers saw the gameplay for the first time. However, the exact release date has not yet been announced. It is known that the release will take place in 2025 on platforms PC и Xbox Series X | S.
