Piranha Bytes Stays in the Game: Finding Partners Amid Closure Rumors
German video game development studio Piranha Bytes, known for creating Gothic and Elex, has confirmed that it is going through difficult times but is actively looking for ways to preserve its future. In the context of recent rumors about the possible closure of the studio owned by Embracer Group, an official statement from Piranha Bytes has appeared.
“We recognize the difficulties, but we are determined and are looking for partners to continue our work. Don’t write us off,” says the studio’s appeal.
According to German media reports, Embracer Group was considering selling Piranha Bytes, but found no buyers. However, THQ Nordic, also part of the holding, insisted on giving the studio more time to find partners.
It is worth noting that the current difficulties of Piranha Bytes will not in any way affect the development of the remake of the first “Gothic”, which is being carried out by the Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive. Piranha Bytes continues its activities aimed at strengthening its position in the gaming industry, and in particular on the PC platform.
