Origin is finally closed: EA moves to EA App only

Electronic Arts has permanently shut down Origin — from April 17 work has stopped old PC client that existed for over 13 years. The reason for its closure was Microsoft stops supporting 32-bit applications, which made further development of Origin impossible.

As a replacement, EA offers new EA App, launched in 2022. This client is running only on 64-bit systems Windows and is now the only way to download and play Electronic Arts games on PC.

Users are strongly encouraged to uninstall Origin and switch to the EA App to maintain access to their games and achievements.
