AMD Introduces New AFMF Technology to Improve FPS in Radeon GPU Games with Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1 Drivers
AMD has announced the release of a technical preview of its AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) technology, which offers significant FPS boosts in games. With the release of drivers Adrenalin Edition 24.1.1, AFMF has become available for all AMD Radeon 700M, RX 6000 and RX 7000 series GPUs.
AFMF technology enables frame rate increases of up to 97% at 1080p and up to 103% at 1440p, running any DX11/DX12 game without the need for special support, unlike NVIDIA's DLSS 3. However, AFMF only works in full screen mode and is automatically disabled in fast-paced scenes.
Developers warn of possible additional latency when using AFMF, making the technology less preferable for fast multiplayer games. However, AMD recommends using AFMF in combination with Radeon Anti-Lag technology to reduce latency and maintain a minimum frame rate of 60 fps.
