NVIDIA is helping develop the PC version of Middle-earth: Shadow of War

NVIDIA, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Productions today announced they are collaborating on the PC version of Middle-earth: Shadow of War.

The PC version of Middle-earth: Shadow of War will support NVIDIA Ansel, NVIDIA's in-game photography tool. NVIDIA is also working with Monolith to introduce other advanced technologies, such as high dynamic range lighting, which allows for a greater range of colors and brightness levels to make games even more realistic.

“NVIDIA is an important partner, providing us with invaluable experience, diverse resources and cutting-edge gaming technologies,” said Kevin Stephens, vice president and studio head of Monolith Productions. “We are working with NVIDIA on many aspects of Middle-earth: Shadow of War, from optimizing stability and performance in drivers to implementing advanced technologies such as Ansel and HDR.”
 
Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an open-world RPG that continues the storyline of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Players are thrown into a more personal and expansive world, filled with heroes, villains, and memorable locations. The game features more original enemy types, personalities, and new characters with untold stories - all created using the popular Nemesis system.

NVIDIA's visual effects engineering team worked closely with Monolith to develop Middle-earth: Shadow of War, sharing graphics technology expertise and providing Monolith with extensive resources including visual effects libraries, development tools, research materials, source code, and much more.

The companies' collaboration is designed to bring Middle-earth: Shadow of War the cutting-edge gaming capabilities of the PC platform and take full advantage of the advantages of NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10 series GPUs.
