Lots of new Metro Exodus details
In an interview with Game Informer, the Ukrainian company 4A Games revealed new details of Metro: Exodus. The developers talked about the game world, guns and new enemies.
-The Moscow metro is a thing of the past. Instead, there will now be spacious locations;
-4A Games insists that this is not an open world game. These are rather sandbox locations that can reach sizes of up to two square kilometers. For comparison, the largest location in Last Light was 200 by 100 meters;
-There are no more cartridges as currency. Now you will need to rummage through the garbage and look for valuable things, which can then be turned into two resources: chemicals and materials. They can be used to craft various items;
-The classic Metro gameplay, with the ability to choose your playing style, remains in place. However, 4A Games decided to add the ability to choose between lethal and non-lethal elimination of opponents into this formula;
-The game now tracks your actions. For example, eliminating members of one faction may result in them reacting to you with open hostility when encountered;
-The stations where you used to replenish supplies and communicate with other characters are no longer there either. Instead, there was the Aurora train, which would constantly change as the journey progressed;
-There will be transport in the game. Which one is not reported, but Game Informer representatives were able to see the possibility of traveling by boat;
-The game's plot takes place over the course of a year, whereas in Metro 2033 and Last Light it took place over several days. Moreover, each sandbox location covers a specific season. The autumn level is set in a mountainous area filled with mutated bears, while the summer level is in a desert area with burning oil platforms on the coast;
-The weapon upgrade system has also undergone changes. If earlier you had to buy improvements, now everything is different. If you come across a weapon that has, for example, a scope, but you don't need the gun itself, you can remove it, put it in your inventory and then use it with compatible weapons;
-The condition of the weapon now needs to be monitored. If you don't maintain it regularly, it will become dirty and dirt will fly out of the barrel when you shoot, which will reduce damage and accuracy;
-There will be many side quests and activities at the locations. To obtain them, you will need to read notes, communicate with other characters, or eavesdrop on conversations;
-Metro Exodus will take full advantage of the capabilities of the Xbox One X: 4K support, HDR, improved lighting, and so on. The project will also use physical rendering and full facial motion capture for cutscenes.
