X870E AORUS XTREME AI TOP Overheating - Users Complain About Chipset Temperatures Near 110°C
Members motherboard X870E AORUS XTREME AI TOP started to report about critical temperatures the second chipset, reaching almost to 110 ° C. Reddit member Xabiro posted a screenshot from HWiNFO showing the Chipset 2 (xHCI) component heating up to 109,9°C when paired with AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3DThis sparked a wave of discussions, with other owners confirming that they had a similar problem.
The author of the post took the board apart and found out that the radiator was not in contact with one of the Promontory 21 chipsets. The reason was a high plastic element of the EZ Latch Plus system, which interfered with the fit of the radiator. After replacing the thermal interface with TG KryoSheet and TG Kryonaut, the temperature readings dropped to 65 °C and below 50 °C on the two chipsets, respectively.
RyanOCallaghan01 also reported that his X870E is showing temperatures of almost 100°C without a graphics card installed. He noted that the system has SSDs in both the M2B_SB and M2D_SB slots connected to the same chipset, which could be contributing to the overheating. He hopes that GIGABYTE will issue an official statement, as such idle temperatures are causing concern among users.
Against this background, it is worth recalling that GIGABYTE recently made fun of ASUS, criticizing the reliability of their video card installation systems. However, now the company itself is faced with an engineering problem in a premium board. So far, GIGABYTE has not made an official statement.
