A custom RTX 3080 with 20GB of memory has been released in China.
Chinese brand Fengpo (风魄) released a video card RTX 3080 с increased memory capacity — 20 GB GDDR6X, which is outside the official NVIDIA specification. The model is manufactured by Shenzhen Chuangyu Cloud Intelligence and has already caught the attention of enthusiasts on the Chinese platform Bilibili.
The device visually resembles PNY RTX 4090 Glass, including at the expense of 16-pin power connector, which is unusual for the 30 series models. The printed circuit board contains 20 GDDR6X chips - by 1 GB per chip, while both sides of the PCB are involved, as in RTX 3090This allows you to save 320-bit bus and increase memory capacity without changing the architecture.
Such a solution has been developed without NVIDIA's participation and is intended, apparently, for the local Chinese market. Support for such models by official NVIDIA drivers is not guaranteed, but the card is reported to function reliably.
