Sony is working on a new portable console: a possible answer to Nintendo

Sony Interactive Entertainment is actively developing a new portable gaming device, which, according to experts, could become a competitor to Nintendo in the Japanese market. Information about this came from the famous blogger Moore's Law is Dead, citing reliable sources within the company.

According to preliminary data, the upcoming portable system, tentatively called PlayStation Vita 2, will be equipped with a new custom processor from AMD. It is expected that the console will be able to run digital copies of games for PlayStation 4 without problems, while games for PlayStation 5 will require the development of special patches.

At the moment, the project is in the early stages of development, and the final characteristics have not yet been approved. However, the blogger suggests that the processor of the new console may include 18 computing units with a frequency of 1,8 GHz. The most optimistic estimates place the release date of the new product no earlier than 2026.

Sources claim that Sony's new portable system could potentially become part of the PlayStation 6 ecosystem, offering gamers a less powerful but mobile device. This could be a key factor in restoring the PlayStation brand's position in the Japanese market, where the company has lost ground to competitors recently.

While the future of the project remains in doubt and Sony's plans may change, work on the new portable system continues. Moore's Law is Dead emphasized that it is still difficult to say whether the project will survive to implementation, but at the moment development is actively underway.
