Intel Core Processors Ultra 200S "LGA 1851" do not support LGA 1700 contact frames
Intel has confirmed that the new processors Core Ultra 200S for socket LGA 1851 will not be compatible with contact frames designed for LGA 1700, due to changes in the processor design, especially in the area of the heat spreader (IHS). Although the cooling solutions used for LGA 1700, can be installed on LGA 1851, companies such as Thermal grizzly и Thermalright, warned about the incompatibility of contact frames.
The main problem is that small changes in the size of processors LGA 1851 have led to gaps between the frames and processors, which can affect cooling efficiency. However, some manufacturers, such as MSI, have already offered special offset mounts, which can compensate for these differences and improve thermal performance.
It is important to note that although mechanical compatibility between sockets LGA 1700 и LGA 1851 retained, users should ensure proper thermal compatibility of their cooling systems by consulting with suppliers.
