OBS Studio 31.0 Drops NVENC Support on Kepler GPUs
OBS Studio, one of the most popular apps for streaming and recording games, releases update 31.0, which brings significant changes. One of the most notable innovations is the refusal to support NVENC for older video cards based on the Kepler architecture (1st generation). This decision was made due to the fact that NVIDIA stopped official driver support for Kepler.
The new version of OBS adds new NVIDIA Blur and Background Blur filters, as well as improved integration with Amazon IVS and YouTube Chat. Other new features include improved screen handling mechanisms, updated browser libraries, and the ability to use the new v210 format for capturing AJA devices.
It's important to note that Kepler support remains in previous versions of OBS, but for new generations of graphics cards like Maxwell and beyond, OBS continues to provide updates with support for the latest standards.
The full list of changes in OBS 31.0 also includes the removal of support for FTL (Fast Transmission Layer), improved scene handling, and expanded capabilities for working with Wayland on Linux.
