Intel Unveils XeSS 2 SDK, Brings Neural Rendering to DirectX 12

On the GDC 2025 company Intel officially released SDK XeSS 2, which is now available on GitHub. This opens up the possibility for developers to integrate XeSS 2 Upscaling, Frame Generation and Low Latency in their projects. The new technology was introduced together with video cards Arc B-series "Battlemage", but also sovmestima with the previous generation Arc A-series "Alchemist", supporting XMX acceleration.

XeSS 2 based on neural network DNN model, which makes it closer in principle to DLSSthan to AMDFSR. Intel also updated Unreal Engine plugins, XeSS Inspector tool и development guides, providing full support for new features.

The main innovation is preparation for implementation Neural Rendering via DirectX 12. Intel has confirmed that it is working on DirectX Cooperative Vectors, allowing game engines to use it directly XMX accelerators for neural network texture compression. Expected up to 10x performance gain in processing neural network textures using Arc A и B series GPU.

This decision could have a serious impact the future of graphics, accelerating texture processing and providing improved image quality without a significant increase in load. Support Neural Rendering will be an important stage in the development of Intel technologies in the gaming industry.
