Half-Life 2 RTX with texture autoloading reduces VRAM load, but without FPS increase
In the recently published Half-Life 2 RTX demos found interesting feature of DirectX 12 Ultimate - Sample Feedback, which can significantly reduce the load on video memory.
New test published on YouTube channel Compusemble, shows how Sampler Feedback Streaming dynamically loads textures, reducing consumption VRAM in real time. The technology works. based on screen analysis, loading only those textures that are actually displayed in the frame. However, as experts note, this does not provide any increase in productivity, but at the same time it can improve image quality and reduce freezing on video cards with small amount of VRAM.
Half Life 2 RTX remains a shining example of RTX Remix's capabilities – the remaster not only added full ray tracing, but also completely changed lighting through RTXDI and Neural Radiance Cache. Although the new atmosphere has changed the original darkness of Half-Life 2, reworked textures look photorealistic and scale perfectly when enlarged.
Technology Sampler Feedback Can Play a Key Role in VRAM Optimizationhelping developers to reduce memory load and improve FPS stability in games with high levels of detail.
