ASUS ROG Ally beats the new MSI Claw based on Intel Meteor Lake in the first comparison tests

MSI CLAW

The first comparative tests of portable devices showed that ASUS ROG Ally, powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 processor, delivers better performance compared to the MSI Claw equipped with the latest Intel Meteor Lake chips. Despite high expectations from Intel's new product, benchmark results revealed a significant lag behind the MSI Claw in games Shadow of The Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk 2077 и Red Dead Redemption 2 by 10-15% on average from its competitor ASUS.

These tests were carried out by several Chinese reviewers who managed to obtain the devices before their official release on the world market. MSI Claw comes in two variants: Core Ultra 7 155H and Core Ultra 5 135H, between which there is also a noticeable difference in performance, especially in resource-demanding games, where the gap could exceed 20%.

The performance differences between the MSI Claw models are due in part to the number of Xe and CPU, provided in each version. Such a lag of MSI Claw from ASUS ROG Ally can be explained by the more mature state of the drivers and support for the latter, while the new product from Intel has not yet gone on sale.

Although the current testing results cannot be considered conclusive and it is expected that the performance of the MSI Claw may improve by the time of the official release, it is already clear that ASUS ROG Ally remains a competitive device. It will be interesting to see how future models based on Meteor Lake and other Intel Core processors Ultra will be able to compete with products based on AMD Ryzen Z1.
