AMD Unveils Budget Ryzen 5 7400F Processor: 6 Cores, 12 Threads, and Reduced Boost Frequency

AMD has added another Ryzen 7000 series processor to its Ryzen 5 family. The new Ryzen 5 7400F appeared on the company's official website and became a budget alternative to the Ryzen 5 7500F. Although there has been no official announcement yet, the processor is already available for review on AMD's German subdomain, and its specifications indicate the company's desire to expand the available Zen 4 line, as it did earlier with Zen 3.

7400F

Ryzen 5 7400F is equipped with 6 cores and 12 threads with a base frequency of 3.7 GHz and a maximum Boost frequency of 4.7 GHz. For comparison, its older brother, the Ryzen 5 7500F, offers a Boost frequency 300 MHz higher, which makes the 7400F slightly less powerful, but more affordable. Otherwise, the processors are identical: both have 6 MB of L2 cache, 32 MB of L3 cache, and a thermal design power (TDP) of 65 W.

The main feature of the Ryzen 5 7400F is the lack of integrated graphics, which makes this processor suitable for users planning to use discrete GPU. The chip is aimed at budget motherboards AM5, such as B650, and the latest B840 and B850. It is worth noting that B840-based boards, despite their power efficiency, do not support overclocking, although the 7400F itself is an overclockable processor.

The price of the new chip is expected to be in the range $ 149 – 169, making it an attractive choice for budget gaming builds. It comes with AMD Wraith Stealth cooling, allowing you to further reduce the cost of building a PC.
