AMD Confirms RDNA 4 Launch in Early 2025 with Improved Ray Tracing, New AI Capabilities

AMD confirmed that the next generation of graphics processors based on the architecture RDNA4 will be released in early 2025, bringing significant improvements to gaming performance and new AI capabilities. The new series is expected to be called Radeon RX 8000, however, given recent changes in product names, a new name is possible.

During the third-quarter 2024 results conference call, CEO AMD Lisa Su confirmed that the new graphics cards will feature significantly better ray tracing and improved AI capabilities. As an example, Su pointed to the higher performance that the company was able to achieve in For PS5 through RDNA4. Video cards will be presented at CES 2025 and will go on sale soon.

First cards RDNA4 will be built on chips Navi 48 и Navi 44, equipped GDDR6 memory with speed up to 20 Gbps. Considering the competition with Intel и NVIDIA, AMD will focus on releasing mid-range and high-end models such as RX 8800 и RX 8700, without entering the enthusiast segment.
