AMD to Equip Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D Processors with Dual 3D V-Cache
Company Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is preparing to expand its line of processors Ryzen 9000X3D, including models in it Ryzen 9 9950X3D и Ryzen 9 9900X3D, which will use innovative technology Double 3D V-Cache on their chiplets Core Complex Die (CCD). According to the latest reports, these processors are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2025, which will continue the success of previous models. Ryzen 9 7950X3D и 7900X3D.
Ryzen 9 9950X3D:
- L3 Cache: 64MB
- 3D V-Cache: 128MB
- L2 Cache: 16MB
- L1 Cache: 1MB
- Total cache size: 145MB
Ryzen 9 9900X3D:
- L3 Cache: 64MB
- 3D V-Cache: 128MB
- L2 Cache: 12MB
- L1 Cache: 768KB
- Total cache size: 140.8MB
Ryzen 7 9800X3D:
- L3 Cache: 32MB
- 3D V-Cache: 96MB
- L2 Cache: 8MB
- L1 Cache: 512KB
- Total cache size: 104.5MB
Ryzen 5 9600X3D:
- L3 Cache: 32MB
- 3D V-Cache: 96MB
- L2 Cache: 6MB
- L1 Cache: 480KB
- Total cache size: 102.5MB
The main advantage of the new processors is a significant increase in cache size. L3 - before 192 MB, 96 MB cache per chiplet CCD. Total cache capacity, including cache L2, will amount to from 204 to 208 MB depending on the model. This improvement is aimed at providing more consistent performance across different workloads, especially in gaming and productivity tasks where efficient cache distribution and management are important.
In previous generations, such as Ryzen 9 7950X3D и 7900X3D, AMD used logic Quality of Service (QoS) at the operating system level in order to direct game tasks to chiplets with 3D V-Cache, distributing multi-core tasks across other chiplets. However, with the introduction of dual-core technology, 3D V-Cache On both chiplets, the new processors will be able to maintain high performance without the need for specialized task allocation logic, which can simplify system optimization and improve its overall efficiency.
In addition to the Ryzen 9 line, AMD is also developing a processor Ryzen 5 9600X3D, which will be the company's second step towards competing with the line Intel Core i5. This follows the recent release Ryzen 5 7600X3D, which showed competitive performance but lagged behind 1-3% from Intel Core i5-14600K in game tests. It is expected that Ryzen 5 9600X3D will also receive improvements thanks to 3D V-Cache, although there is no clear release schedule yet. It is possible that the model will be released together with Ryzen 9 9950X3D at the end of October or will appear at the beginning of 2025.
