AMD is preparing RX 9070 GRE

In the coming weeks AMD will reveal details about two new Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards - this is RX 9060 XT и RX 9070 GRE. Based on the available data, the GRE version will become interim solution between the RX 9060 XT and RX 9070, and in some regions it can completely replace the regular RX 9070, which has disappeared from sale.

RX 9070 GRE is based on the chip Navi 48 and will receive 3072 stream processors, which is a quarter less than the full one GPU. Despite the cut-down configuration, the card will operate at higher frequencies - boost up to 2.79 GHz, providing approximately 17.1 TFLOPS computing power, which is only slightly inferior to the RX 9070 (18 TFLOPS).

The memory capacity will be 12 GB GDDR6, nose 192-bit bus and reduced frequency - 18 Gbps, versus 20 Gbps for the RX 9070 XT. This will give throughput of 432 GB/s, about a third less than the older models. Given this, GRE looks like a solution for those who want performance above the RX 9060 XT, but without having to overpay for flagship memory.

Some RX 9070 GRE models will be able to overclock up to 3.0 GHz, which means overclockers will have plenty of room to run wild. AMD has no plans to release a reference design for any of the RX 9000 series cards, including the GRE and RX 9060 XT — the renders are based on promotional materials only.

The RX 9070 GRE is expected to be unveiled in this quarter, but global release in question - it is possible that the video card will be released selectively for certain regions
